Processed corundum mullite bricks are usually made of synthetic mullite, mullite particles can be used as aggregate, α-Al2O3 powder can be used as powder, fused or sintered corundum particles can also be used as aggregate, synthetic mullite powder for powder. Aggregate and powder are batched according to the specified proportion and particle size, and the waste liquid of sulfite pulp is used as a binding agent. After the bricks are dried, they are fired at 1650-1750°C.
Some corundum mullite bricks use fused or sintered corundum sand as the aggregate to have a mullite or corundum-mullite composition ratio. Bauxite or clay with high α-Al2O3 is mixed with fine powder as powder for batching to make bricks. The products made by this process have poor density, so this process is not widely used.
